UEFA AWARDS 2020: PLAYERS RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR EXEMPIONAL PERFORMANCES IN THE 2020 SEASON

Bayern Munich and Lyon dominated the prestigious UEFA awards this year for individual players in both men and women’s category.

The Best goalkeeper award went to German’s number 1 Manuel Neuer, who has seen a marvelousrevival last season, leading his side to clinch the treble.

Another excellent performance that could not go unnoticed was Joshua Kimmich, the young teammate of Neuer that became the best defender. Amidst all of this, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne prevented Bayern Munich’s total dominance on the awards, as he became the best midfielder.

Coming to the UEFA Men's Player of the Year for 2019/20., there were no doubts who is going to take it home and it was Robert Lewandowski, who also secured the player of the season award for the first time in his career.

The Polish striker bagged 55 goals and 10 assists in 47 games across all competitions to win the maiden treble of his career. He also won the Champions League for the first time in his career, a dream that was unattained since 2013.

As of now, Bayern Munich still looks solid and there are no doubts that they can replicate their last season, until someone spoils their party.

Pernille Harder has won the 2019/20 UEFA Women's Player of the Year award, becoming the first player to receive the prize for the second time.The 27-year-old Denmark attacker was also named UEFA Women's Champions League Forward of the Season in the competition's inaugural positional awards.

Another category that we cannot fail to mention is the UEFA Men's Coach of the Year, which was won by Bayern's Hansi Flick.

Flick beat off competition from compatriots Jürgen Klopp and Julian Nagelsmann to claim the inaugural award. The Bayern coach was announced as the winner during the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland.
