Mesut Ozil was once again the headlines' talk as he offered to save Jerry Quy's job, the man inside the Gunnersaurus mascot costume.
Quy has been inside the mascot costume for 27 years alongside other Arsenal job positions, playing an integral part as the Gunnarsaurus since the Highbury and now the Emirates stadiums.

With zero matches for the mascot to attend to until football fans return to stadiums, he was recently made redundant as a part of cost-cutting measures attributed to the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.
This announcement triggered an outcry, especially after Arsenal paid £45m to Atletico Madrid for midfielder Thomas Partey who will be earning £230,000 a week.
Ozil, who is still frozen out of Mikel Arteta's new generation team, receives £350,000 weekly wage was held up with a lot of speculations as he had initially refused the players' pay cut earlier this year.
He dismissed that narrative by saying that move to ensure a hugely respected staff member is retained.

"I was so sad that Jerry Quy, our famous and loyal mascot…and integral part of our club was made redundant after 27 years," he posted on social media.
"As such, I am offering to reimburse Arsenal with Jerry's full salary of our big green guy as long as I will be an Arsenal player so he can continue the job that he loves so much."
With a total of 55 redundancies announced across the staff in August, Arsenal are yet to confirm whether Ozil's offer will be taken up.

Ozil has had many mishaps with his employer on several issues, starting with his decision against taking a pay cut in April due to doubts his actions would have. This recent gesture appears to be another nasty encounter.
On the other hand, Arsenal have insisted that gunnersaurus has not been ruled out permanently. They believe Quy will occupy the costume once football supporters are allowed back in stadiums.
