Real Madrid beat Villarreal 2-1 on Thursday night to win the 2019/20 LaLiga season making it their 34th title.
Zinedine Zidane’s team only needed two points from their final fixtures to beat their rivals Barcelona on the title race. Villarreal’s loss at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano handed Real the silverware on 3/6 from the required 2/6 points.

Having trailed Barcelona by two points before the corona break, Madrid have been in an excellent form since, clinching victory from 10 matches in a row to claim the title with a game to go.
This is their first title win since 2016/17 season which came in Zidane’s tenure, and marks a very impressive return of the Frenchman after he took after Madrid for the second time in March last year.
Zinedine Zidane has now won 11 trophies with his former team Real Madrid bearing in mind he led his side with a win against Atletico. He won the Spanish Supercopa title in January after they were forced to penalties with his rival Diego Simeone’s Atletico.
Despite being very successful in Champions League with five titles between 2014 and 2018, it has not been a walk in the park for Madrid in LaLiga. This marks their third title in the last 12 years while their close competitors Barcelona winning eight in the same period!

Real now lead with 34 LaLiga titles with the Catalans standing at 26 titles.
Real’s skipper Sergio Ramos led the team in praising Zinedine Zidane as a “unique coach” after he steered the club to a first league title after a drought of three years.
The Spaniard lifted the silverware to a fanless stadium having hailed the Frenchman who had brought the title back home after a 10-game winning run since the restart.

“Zidane has been key. He’s the captain of the ship and he led us right from the start of the season,” Ramos disclosed to LaLiga TV. “He put a lot of faith in all of us players and we have always felt protected with Zizu.”
“It’s been a strange season, but our objective was very clear
we wanted to win every game. There were no doubts in our minds and we have shown that on the pitch.”
“It’s very difficult to win every game - you can’t win these matches easily, every rival is difficult – but this is the reward for all our hard work and I’m very happy with my fifth title.”
